We welcome every guest to Château Doré les Tours as a friend. After all, the château is our family home. We live here with our two cats, Vos (Loup) and Wolf (Renard).
In 2021, we sold our house in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to completely change our lives and move to the French countryside to restore our magnificent Château Doré les Tours.
Since September 2021, we have renovated and restored two gîtes as spacious, independent holiday homes in the former horse stables and our private residence on the ground floor of the château.
We carried out most of the renovation work ourselves, occasionally with the much-appreciated help of our loved ones.
We opened the gîtes in 2024 after extensive renovations.
Our journey here at the château has opened many doors and created incredible adventures. For example, all the friends we’ve met, the tours, the publicity, and the support from the local community. And we were picked up by a private channel in the Netherlands for a new series following Dutch people who have bought a beautiful house in France and renovated it all themselves. The broadcasts have started 12 of November of 2025 and the series is called Kasteel gekocht: wat nu? at RTL4. The filming has been quite an adventure, they have followed us for a year during renovations and celebrations.
